Yes, it is touristy, but Central Park in Manhattan has so much to see and do. I often overlook it when I am in New York City, but when I remember to take the time to experience it, I always have a good time.
My favorite Central Park experience was the time I had a taxi take me from my hotel on 36th and Broadway and drop me off at 90th and 5th. It was a beautiful September day, and I took my time running/walking back to the hotel. I passed other runners, street musicians, a drum circle, kids playing, horse drawn carriages, etc. It's a great way to experience the city.
