That is what we heard and experienced during the week we stayed at "The Royal in Cancun" in the hotel zone. The experience was a pleasure from start to finish. From the glass of Champagne and moist towel you are greeted with at check-in to the tasty, abundant drinks served to you at ocean side in the sand. Whenever you encounter a staff member with a request, their response is "It's a pleasure", and then they try to satisfy your request, often exceeding your expectation. The beach area is always clean, the ocean...well it is the caribbean...so nothing more to be said. The rooms were luxurious and always turned down at night. If you let them know that your trip is either a romantic one or honeymoon, you will find rose petals on your bed at night or the in room jacuzzi filled, with candles lit, rose petals leading to and in the bath. As for food, as all inclusives go, this had some of the best quality and choices of food. There is even one restaurant that is limited seating that is a "Chef's table". They prepare the food in sight of the table and inform you of each course, what it is, how prepared and then suggest parings of wine and drinks (often tequila). There is no extra charge for this other than having to make a reservation as there are only 2 seatings a night with approximately 20 people per seating. The bar staff are amazing as no request is denied and often very good recomendations are made. All in all...my wife and I will return to this haven as we had an amazing vacation here.
One of the best set ups for international travel. They get you through the process very quickly. Only caution here is once you have cleared Customs and the baggage inspection area. DO NOT stop to talk to any of the time share or transportation people inside the airport. Walk all the way outside to the shuttle stands....the people contacting you before you pass through the glass doors to the outside are trying to steer you to their resort or time share.
