As the final battlefield of the American Revolutionary War, Yorktown has many landmarks related to the war. One of the most representing landmarks related to the Revolutionary War is the Monument to the Alliance and Victory, simply called Victory Monument. The tower is impressively tall and exquisite. The tower has its own interesting history that building of the monument was decided by the Congress right after hearing the news of the surrender of the British to Washington, but took more than 100 years which is after the Civil War to finally built it. As the official name says, it is commemorating the victory and alliance between the US and France on its independence war.
