While on our excursion in Wales we made our way out to Anglesey Island crossing over the Menai Straits on the Britannia Bridge. In the Menai Straits below I saw a small island with a white house. After crossing the bridge our bus stopped for a little history lesson and photo-op. As you already guessed, I did not stick around for the history lesson and headed to a good vantage point for photographs. The island, Yny’s Gored Goch, sit’s in the middle of the Menai Strait in an area called the Swellies, between the Britannai Bridge and the Menai Suspension Bridge (in the background). Being a private island it is not available for tours and the residents can only access home by boat. The island is a big hit with photographers and it has been featured in a few television programs. I have never heard of the TV shows, A Great Welsh Adventure (2014), Countryfile (2016) and Robinson Green’s Coastal Lives (2017).
