Your visit to Rome would not be complete without visiting Vatican City - St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel. It is the smallest state in the world but has the outmost significance for Catholics and for Rome’s culture and history. The huge downside is the hassle of beating the crowd. By the time we got to St. Peter’s square at 8:30 am the line was already 30 min long to get into basilica. Not sure if it a little easier in the winter. You are constantly fighting the crowd and guards kept rushing us. Definitely ruins a holy experience - but what can you do.
