The Savannah/Hilton Head Airport is a nice, small airport. It's located about 25 minutes outside of the historic area in Savannah and about 45 minutes to Hilton Head. On quick weekend getaway with my husband I flew from Philadelphia into Charleston. We spent the day touring Charleston and then drove about two hours to Savannah to spend the rest of the weekend. I flew out of the Savannah/Hilton Head Airport on a direct flight back to Philadelphia. My flight down was on Frontier Airlines and was $39 with my return flight only 10,000 miles. Both flights were direct. Although flights are cheap on Frontier you do still need to pay extra for your seat, depending on which seat you want and I was charged $50 for booking a flight using miles only 10 days out. That surprised me and was a first for me. The Savannah/Hilton Head Airport offered several restaurants and shops prior to going through security and only several options in the terminals. Our flight wasn't scheduled to take off until 8:30 p.m. and I was surprised when all the stores and restaurants closed at 7:00 p.m. and it was on a Monday night. But, our flight was the last one out so I guess they didn't feel the need to stay open.
I did treat myself to Leopolds Ice Cream prior to going through security ranked 5th best ice cream in the world. It was good...but expensive!
