The Baltic countries are known for its vast collection of wooden buildings, no wonder the vast majority of the countries is forest. Many of the wooden houses date back to the 18th and 19th century and clearly show their age. No matter where you are, you quickly realize that a tremendous amount of money is desperately needed to restore these houses. During our travels we saw construction and renovations everywhere as if a new era is suddenly happening. We learned that many foreigners invest their money into Baltic real estate, guess low interest rates worldwide are the cause. It is good to see the progress but on the other hand, prices are going through the roof, making it nearly impossible for the locals to own.
