Wisconsin Highlights

Milwaukee, WI, United States

I visited Wisconsin as part of my 50 states journey. I went with a friend and stopped by Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay. I was pleasantly surprised by this state. I knew prior to going that I would have to taste their cheese but little did I know that all the food I would eat would be delicious! And there are so many cheese stores and varieties of cheese that you will not know how to pick. All the cheese tastings were great! My favorite would be the chocolate cheese fudge. I don't believe that can be found elsewhere as I tried once I returned home. Downtown Milwaukee did remind me of Chicago but mostly the riverwalk area. I suppose you see one river you've seen them all? Maybe not =P Awesome place....it may be a state I would want to return to visit.

it was closed on Labor Day but from the outside it was beautiful
Harley-Davidson Museum®
interesting museum. you get to see the history behind motorcycles and how it has changed thru the years and changed people's lives

seemed to be a big hit attraction...just standing there admiring the river there were at least 5 other people who came by to take a photo with him
Gertie the Duck - Symbol of Hope
this is cute as you follow along the streets of Milwaukee looking for the ducks...perhaps a cute game to play if you have little ones

Restaurants

Culver's
here to try butterburger and frozen custard...tasted like a regular burger to me
DAILY SCOOP
one wouldn't think to head to a college campus to look for ice cream but I got a tip that it shouldn't be missed. Superb savoring your ice cream while overlooking the lake on the terrace.
Über Tap Room & Cheese Bar
i just yelped this place and they seemed to offer a good variety of Wisconsin cheese and the photo of the cheese platter looked pretty. But apparently they've been featured on TV. Lots of cheese and beer to choose from here

Shopping

Milwaukee Public Market
came here for one last stop to shop for cheese. And got a sandwich. Wisconsin's summer sausage and cheese sandwiches are just Soo good
Mousehouse Cheesehaus
we had meant to go to a different cheese store but when it was closed for the holiday we headed here instead. People are nice. You get to sample various cheese.
