Winter in Michigan

Gaylord, MI, United States
6 Kudos
I love Michigan in the winter, especially Northern Michigan. Gaylord is a great town to visit and the downtown looks like a bavarian village and has lots of cute shops. It doesn't get over run with people and it's easy to find lodging, making it a great place to relax while also getting outdoors and enjoying nature. There are a lot of great places around Gaylord to cross country ski and they also have a downhill ski place too. One of our favorite places for cross country skiing is Hartwick Pines. The trails are groomed and it's very woodsy. After that we always enjoy some of the great local restaurants like Bennethums which is our favorite.

Mama Leone's Italian Restaurant
We had lasagna here and it was good, not anything special.

We like to come here for breakfast, nothing fancy, just the usual pancakes and eggs and hashbrowns. But the food is so good.
Gobblers of Gaylord
The food here is great, the traditional turkey and stuffing whenever you want!
Bennethum's Northern Inn
This is a very nice and fancy restaurant with excellent food, we especially like the walleye dinner, and we always save room for dessert.
