I've been fishing since I was 4 years old so I've got the better part of 4 decades under my belt in terms of freshwater fishing. If it's got teeth, all the better. But nothing gets my blood pumping like small stream trout fishing. It's an art form. Small stream to me is where the stream is a couple of feet wide in most spots with the occasional deep pool where the brownies (Brown Trout) converge. My family has had land in Richland County, WI since 1970 and when my cousins and I would go up there as kids, we'd wake up at the crack of dawn, scarf down some breakfast and bolt out the door en masse to where the stream starts a couple miles away and work our way downstream. We knew the whole stream like the back of our hand and would often not come home until dinnertime. Although it's been 30+ years since I've had my cousins en tow, one of my school dad buddies was wanting to go trout fishing so I thought I'd take him for the real deal. We both caught a lot of small brownies and had a great time. I managed to catch an 11" brownie for myself and took it home to have a nice dinner. Brought back a lot of good memories of days gone by and was able to share some new experiences with a good friend.
