Every time I walk by a playground on a spring day, I expect to see children running around the swing sets and teens playing basketball (if, indeed, a basketball court is part of the playground). During an April trip to Fayetteville, NC to run a work errand, however, I saw a perfectly good playground which was perfectly unused. There were literally no children or teens or anyone sight. This made my heart break a small amount, as playgrounds are meant to be used, especially on a spring day and after school had let out. In all, I guess video games and after-school television sometimes outranks playgrounds as a means of adolescent entertainment these days. Which is just too darn bad!
