If we could change our trip to Japan in retrospective, we would spend more time in the Shogawa River Valley. Maybe we should come back to this region at a different time of the year, when the grass is green and the surrounding trees have leaves. We were there in late spring and it was still fairly chilly but the air was fresh. We only had sun for an hour or so. Nevertheless, the area was fascinating and we were not the only visitors. Maybe in summer the villages are crowded with tourists? We also loved the little restaurants (see picture), well, we ae big fans of Japanese food anyway.
