As one of the oldest cities in America, Savannah has no shortage of interesting stories and legends. One of the landings of the Savannah Belles Ferry is known as the Waving Girl's Landing as the landing point is riverfront park right next to the Waving Girl Statue. There is an interesting story about this unique statue. The girl in this statue is actually known as a real person named Florence Martus. It was known that Florence started waving and welcoming each passing ship on the Savannah River. Her waving never stopped for decades even when she grew up and people get used to wave back to her when they sail through the Savannah River. Today, where the statue is located is one of the busiest spots along the riverfront park where people gather, chill and people watch.
