A very tall obelisk which presides over the center of the National Mall. A fitting tribute to one of our most important founding Fathers. The monument actually changes colors about a third of the way up. Reason being, they had to change sources for the marble stone used in building the obelisk. From the base, you have a clear line of site to the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and the US Capitol Building. As the tallest and most central monument in the National Mall, it will likely be the first monument seen upon arrival into the city. An absolute must see.
