War time graffiti

Longues-sur-Mer, Normandy, France
25 Kudos
The seaside town of Longue-Sur-Mer is home to a gun battery that was used by the Germans during World War II as an attack point against the allied forces storming the beaches up and down the coast. While there exploring the gun battery that is still there today, we came across the bunkers that were used for things like storage. At the entrance to one of the bunkers, we discovered some old graffiti (well, more like an etching) of a horse with the year also etched in. We thought it was pretty cool and discussed whether it was a bored soldier or someone who helped build the bunkers who took it upon themselves to add this piece of art to the ground.
