Sometimes one of the best views - perhaps missed by tourists - of a great city is not necessarily from the city itself but from outside it. For example, there are great views of New York City from New Jersey, or of Rio de Janeiro from Niteroi. Another good example is the view of Sydney, Australia, from the small suburban town of Watson's Bay, looking across the waters at the skyline. Actually to call it suburban may do Watson's Bay a disservice. It has its own history, with its own historical landmarks. Today it is indeed mostly a bedroom community for Sydney, with popular beaches for summer visitors.
