This thoughtfully-designed museum offers visitors the opportunity to learn about music and musicians from around the world in a beautiful and contemporary space. While catering to adults and music-lovers, the Experience Room lets kids engage with a wide variety of instruments. We could have spent many more hours than we did at the Musical Instrument Museum. The 2nd floor is organized geographically, with rooms for each continent, and separate displays by country/region. Each area is treated in depth, with sample instruments, costumes and other accompanying material, plus video and text to illustrate and explain the role of musical instruments in each culture. So well researched and documented! The first floor has a greater focus on reasonably contemporary music, as well as a room with instruments for hands-on playing and a window into the restoration department.
