One day of our Paris vacation we took the RER train out to Versailles. Unfortunately we had to wait in a super long line to get in, but it was still well worth the wait. It is an absolutely beautiful chateau. Construction began in 1664, continuing until Louis XIV's death in 1715. We visited the Grands Apartments, the one of a kind Hall of Mirrors, where the treaty of Versailles was signed ending WWII, and the Petits Apartments, where Louis XV died in 1774 of small pox, as well as the Royal Chapel. Then we walked around the grounds, which were beautiful and very large, even though it was the winter.
