Our 35th Wedding anniversary provided the perfect opportunity for us to take our "bucket list" trip to Alaska including our first cruise.

After reviewing many options we decided on a Princess Cruise, 7 day inside passage cruise leaving from Vancouver, BC to Whittier, AK.

We made our own air travel arrangements to Vancouver and had a half day to enjoy the city and attractions prior to embarking. We opted to take a free shuttle to the Capilano Suspension bridge.

The shuttle, was conveniently located about a block from the Holiday Inn and it's route took us through Stanley Park and over the Lions Gate Bridge--a smaller version of the Golden Gate Bridge of San Francisco fame.

Your entry fee provides access to the suspension bridge, tree top walk and spectacular cliff walk. All the attractions are nicely done and nestled in a subtropical forest.

Rather than shuttle back to the hotel in downtown Vancouver, we opted for the local transit which included a sail on the sea bus from Lonsdale Quay back to downtown Vancouver.

TIP: public transport in Vancouver is great! There are apps to help with routing and the fare can't be beat. Purchase a day pass when at airport go to the 7-11 and purchase rather than on the platform to avoid a $5 CN surcharge per person.

The next morning we enjoyed a relaxing coffee and donut at Tim Hortons before heading to Canada Place, where the cruise lines depart. Our Barclay card was handy (and no foreign transaction fee)for the Cab ride.

The Cruise lines have a great logistics process and your on board reasonably quickly to get settled on board. More about the voyage in another post.
