The Spanish colonial feel of Valladolid comes through in the narrow, shop-lined streets that open up to a large plaza (with, of course, a large church presiding over one side). There are vendors all throughout the plaza, and it's easy to while away an afternoon looking at all the various wares. My favorite thing was the restaurant we visited for dinner - it sits inside El Meson del Marqués hotel. The restaurant sits within a cloister-like construction, and tables are arranged around the trees that grow up and out through the space. The interesting smoothies/drink combinations alone are worth a trip!
