When we found ourselves with no plans one weekend, my girlfriend and I decided to check Governor's Island off our NYC bucket-list. So on one Saturday summer morning, we made our way to downtown New York to catch the ferry ride over.
Before we hopped on the ferry, we stopped by Hole In the Wall (yes, that's the name) for a quick, Australian-inspired brunch. Afterwards, we made our way to the ferry to take a 5 minute ride over to the island, and were on our way.
We explored the island, stopping by various art exhibits, forts, and rolling greens. Some highlights included the hilltop on the south end of the island, which offered panoramic views of the city and the harbor, as well as the slides built into the hills. Unfortunately, there were not enough hammocks avail in the Hammock Grove, but we still overall enjoyed the trails, people-watching and scenery that the island had to offer.
