Located in the large city of Sligo, there are remains of a medieval Dominican friary, known in the city as "the Abbey". I wouldn't have even known of its existence had we not been looking for a place to grab a bite and take a break while on a longish stretch of road between destinations. It made for a perfect place to stop and stretch our legs, and was definitely worth a visit in its own right. The abbey itself is home to some pretty incredible tombs and sculptures, and we walked around reading the various inscriptions. Inexpensive, educational excursion.
