Named the Red City and described as a unique destination, experiencing all of Marrakech was full of highs and lows. It is not that the city is not beautiful or that there weren't top notch restaurants and hotels, there were especially in the new area but it was juxtaposed to the Medina with its confusing streets and alleyways where everyone was trying to sell you something or lead you somewhere to get more money from you. Combined those experiences created feelings of excitement, relaxation, and enjoyment along side feelings of annoyance and frustration. However, once you learn to navigate the Medina and avoid the annoyances, it opens up the stimulating world that is around you: the smell of the spices and grilled meats, the sounds of the scooters and people haggling for goods, and of course all of the sights of Red City.Recommend if staying in Marrakech for more than 3 nights, spend time at a Riad as well as at a luxury hotel in the newer part of town.Recommended restaurants: Cafe Arabe; La Maison de Arabe; Bagatella; Comptoir
