The day I arrived in Antigua also happened to be the opening day of the United Buddy Bears exhibit. This international exhibit started in Berlin and features one bear for each country that is a part of the UN. Since it’s start in 2002 it has visited 35 cities on 5 continents and the exhibit will spend about 2 months in Guatemala. The goal of the bears is to promote tolerance, world peace, and to raise money for UNICEF. It was really neat walking around and seeing each bear painted to represent its country and many people were taking pictures with their favorite bear.
