While Luzern is certainly a tourist town, its still yet another gem of Switzerland. I visited in the fall and enjoyed the leaves littering the alleyways. Everything in Luzern is walkable and I would encourage any traveler to spend the day wandering, while taking in the major sites of this lake-town. The Old-Town is of course stunning and surrounds the Wine Market, a pretty square lined with homes and apartments that used to accommodate guilds! The area is covered in paintings and decorated with many signs to enjoy. Be sure not to miss the Hirschenplatz, a renaissance building built in 1606, or the Lion of Lucerne, the well known memorial to the Swiss men who lost their lives fighting in the french revolution.
