Sometimes things don't go according to plan on your vacation, it's part of the experience and you roll with the punches and make the best of it. But sometimes things go horribly, horribly wrong and you find yourself walking down train tracks in the middle of the mountains between France and Italy. Let me back up a bit. As I was enjoying my train ride from Montpelier to Milan, somewhere after crossing the border into Italy, the train suddenly stopped. No announcements were made and we sat there, motionless as the temperature rose inside the car -- this was the middle of summer with no air conditioning mind you, and highspeed train windows don't open -- and people got restless, but we all remained calm. Some employees passed out bottles of water and told us the electricity was out and we were stuck here indefinitely. We'd need to evacute and walk to the nearest town where a bus would take us the rest of the way. So, that's what we did. We laughed about it and made new friends with our seatmates and walked the few miles to the next stop. But when I asked for an adventure this vacation, I should've been more specific.
