This is how Atrani, the small town on the Amalfi Coast, looked like in the old days. We saw these tiles when we hiked from Ravello down to Atrani. As you can see it was a small fishing village, like so many other places along the coastline. The were a handful of small fishing boats on the beach but you can see that they were not part of any commercial enterprise. The town felt pretty empty, in particular compared to Amalfi and the other famous towns along the coast. On the day we went there, we were the only tourists on the main plaza. It felt great, could have been somewhere in the heart of Italy.
