This Lighthouse in Montauk is special. It was commissioned by George Washington. Teddy Roosevelt visited in his Rough Rider days and it has saved many ships from wrecking off the Point. The Amistad survivors came ashore in 1839 after the mutiny and murder of the Captain who was trying to sell them into slavery. The lighthouse is absolutely stunning with the most incredible views. Making it to the end of the island with this beauty of nature and landmark was incredible. Knowing you come here at the end of long Island and know it's only the same way back is so cool.
