So when you say 'big' - how big is that? How vast? Another conceptual problem. Just as when you show amazing photo's to friends and you know what it was like - how incredibly massive, overwhelming, or magnificent - the concept of Scale just doesn't transfer well, unless you have something to compare the image to. In maps and diagrams we've incorporated 'graphical scales' to measure out miles or kilometers and give a sense of scale, but even that is problematic. I would like to describe just how many miles distant the image shows - but suffice it to say - the landscape was magnificently VAST.
