This picture truly puts the concept of erosion in perspective. A black and white photograph, taken from the air in the 1950s, shows the Cape May Point shoreline as it existed at that time. Add-ons by the State Park staff indicate where the shoreline was at various points in the years before this photo was taken. Erosion is a natural, and important, facet of the natural world. This photo shows just how quickly that can happen. My word of advice to anyone thinking of building here; stay as far from the shoreline as you can, but don't worry, eventually you'll have beach front property!
