The Wall of Hypapanti (Constructed During the Ottoman Period for Athens)

Athens 105 58, Greece
25 Kudos
Although you cannot tell by the picture, The Wall of Hypapanti (also written as the Wall of Ypapanti) was pretty important in its day. It was constructed in the 17th or 18th century, during the time period when the Ottoman Empire ruled the area, and connected the Acropolis to the main city. I do not remember seeing many structures in Athens built during this period so it was a neat find. I was happy that they had the sign displayed so I knew what I was looking at because today it just looks like a pile of stones that would be easy to walk by without giving it a second thought.
