The Victor Emmanuel II Monument pictured above is located near the water and is hard to miss if in the area. I did not find out the meaning or significance of this monument until I returned home from Italy, but this was placed here to honor Vittorio Emanuele II, the first King of unified Italy in 1861. It is a nice monument, but is pale in comparison to the much larger Vittorio Emanuele II monument in Rome. A quick picture is all that is needed here. If you find this monument, you are not too far from Harry's Bar which is the real gem in the area.
