The Bodie State Historical Park in Bodie, California is a preserved "ghost town" run by the state of California. The town of Bodie grew out of boom of the nearby gold mine in the 1860's. As the output of the mine declined, the town was slowly forgotten and abandoned by the 1940's. Now you can tour this complete ghost town as it was when the last residents left.
