Making our way towards Monterey, we had a must-stop place on our road trip list because of fond memories from a trip about 20 years ago with our daughters. When they were very young, we had taken a big loop road trip from SF down to Big Sur, east to Yosemite, then back to SF. Driving through Salinas we were fascinated with the large sculptured figures of farm workers at this place. Named simply "The Farm", this local business has turned itself into not only a large working farm, but a community agricultural education center and destination for tourists. They have a small petting zoo, gift shop, and bakery. They also do tours and demonstrations during the growing season. Unfortunately everything was closed down in late January, but the office was open. After hearing our story of visiting long ago, the friendly employees went out of their way to go back into the store rooms to get T-shirts to sell us to replace the ones our daughters loved and wore from this place long ago. Fun place, and if you have kids and are in the area, you'll enjoy a stop here. Nice folks.
