The Colosseum

00184 Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome, Italy
24 Kudos
Can you go to Rome and not visit the Colosseum? Well, you probably could, but you really should not miss this amazing place. We made sure to get our tickets in advance and to pick them up at the Roman Forum to avoid waiting in the longer line at the Colosseum. We went ahead and went and did our own self-guied tour and spent a good chunk of time in here exploring. It was crowded, as we were there during peak tourist season, but because we got our tickets the way we did, we were able tto walk right in. If you want a more in-depth experience, they do offer tours that grant access to other areas of the colosseum that the general public cannot get to.

This metro station is obviously the closest to The Colosseum

Points of interest

Parco del Colle Oppio
This park barely had anyone in it, but it was great for our kids to run around in for a while.
Arch of Constantine
This arch is located right outside of the Colosseum. It's hard to miss
Arch of Titus
An honorific arch that is between The Colosseum and the Roman Forum
Piazza del Colosseo
This plaza is where you will find The Colosseum located
Roman Forum
Tickets for The Colosseum can be combined with the Forum. They are not terribly far from one another.
Get your tickets ahead of time or you may not be able to see the inside. You can pick up your advance tickets at the Roman Forum - the lines to pick up here are much shorter.
Rome is an amazing city. All roads seem to lead here :)

Taverna Romana cacio de pepe
This restaurant was really busy, but worth the wait. We really enjoyed it.
