So if I start out by saying that winter travel is risky, most would immediately think of skiing and broken legs, or cancelled flights due to inclement weather. But for road trips - particularly a last minute weekend excursion - weather is perhaps the least of one's worries. In the small town of Woods Hole, Massachusetts just outside of Falmouth, an famous institution resides - the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. An aquarium, educational center, people who Know Stuff and can answer questions! We've only been able to get there a couple of times - both during 'down' periods for the town and college. The town is so small that when the Institute is closed, so is everything else. The danger of traveling in winter? The Closed sign.
