The Taos Pueblo has been inhabited by native people for a very long time and is one of the oldest in North America. A tour guide will take you through the Pueblo and explain its history. The community consists of about 150 people that choose to live like their ancestors did with out electricity or plumbing. There is a primitive cemetery and the present church was erected in 1850. Buildings are all adobe. Self supported, there are vendors selling, fry bread, jewelry and other items. We caught the tail end of the final guided tour. The tour guide was very good and informative. Then we continued on by ourselves. It was a beautiful day to walk around the very compelling site.
