If you have read any of my other stories about the Azores, you know that I love hot springs. There is a unique opportunity in Ponta da Ferraria where the thermal water enters the ocean. During low tide the ocean water becomes quite warm and it is a popular place to swim. During high tide the water will be much cooler and very few people will be there. The shore is made of volcanic rocks, but there is a ladder to get in and out of the water. There's a rope in the water in case you aren't comfortable with the tides pushing you around a bit. Unfortunately I didn't get a good picture of the swimming area, but I did love all the volcanic rocks along the water.
