Since we prefer nature to cities when we found out we were vacationing to Vancouver in winter for a convention, we decided to add on a less metropolitan stop to our trip and booked two nights at the Executive Suites Hotel and Resort in Squamish, BC. Although weather was projected to be close to freezing for our entire stay, I actually picked this place based on its offering of an outdoor pool and hot tub. A heated pool outdoor pool you could enjoy even in freezing temps seemed like an experience I could not pass up. The set-up of the pool is ideally situated for swimming outside in cold weather. Aside from being well heated, it has a small portion that is inside a heated room attached to the hotel that you can enter the water from. Then you swim outside underneath some plastic flaps, so that you never have to actually go out into the cold weather in just your swimsuit. So nice! It was a lot of fun. Although, I won't lie, even heated, when it is lightly snowing and 0 degrees, you aren't going to spend hours in there and both nights we quickly moved on to the hot tub. Still, a lovely experience, and a bit romantic and magical with the steam coming off the water, the night sky, and little snowy flakes coming down.
