Encinitas is one of my favorite beach towns in Southern California. The town, about 25 miles north of San Diego, is well known for its free spirit that started in the 60s and its fairly large surfing community. The best surfing spot in the area is Swami's Beach, an area with high cliffs on the one side and a kind of rocky beach on the other. Here you can usually find decent waves but currents can be strong as well, making it not ideal for swimming. The town is also known for its arts. I found this small mural on a sidewalk, describing what the town is all about. Sun, flowers, surfing and old cars. Not far from the mural, I spotted the car in the second picture. It resembles the one in the mural and shows exactly what it is about.
