Super Fun Chef Mickey’s Breakfast

Orlando, FL, United States
20 Kudos
Chef Mickey’s breakfast character dining is definitely a super fun way to start your morning. The entire atmosphere during breakfast time is very playful and engaging, breakfast buffet has plenty of choices even for pickiest of eaters. The fun part is, of course, meeting Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck and Goofy all dressed up in white chef attire. All the characters take time to pose for photos, sign autograph books and dance around with the kids. The restaurant is located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and it is very convenient to get to either by walking from Magic Kingdom or taking a monorail.
Story Details

Resort Monorail - Disney's Contemporary Resort
Disney's Contemporary Resort is considered a deluxe resort, which makes it one of the most expensive hotels to stay in during your Disney vacation. I personally think that Disney's Contemporary Resort is not that interesting or creative comparing to other Disney's deluxe hotels such as Disney's Polynesian Village Resort or Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

Points of interest

Monorail Station - Magic Kingdom
You don't have to be staying at the Disney resort in order to go there, so you can easily do "resort hopping" and visit many Disney properties to enjoy the decor, shopping and restaurants.
Disney's Contemporary Resort
You can enjoy nightly Electric Water Pageant in Bay Lake from Disney's Contemporary Resort. The water parade is spectacular!
Disney's Contemporary Resort
There are many places inside Disney's Contemporary Resort to watch nightly fireworks that take place in nearby Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom Park
Magic Kingdom Park is about 15 minute walk from the Contemporary Resort (Chef Mickey's restaurant is inside the resort.) It is a fairly straightforward and easy walk. Alternatively, you can take monorail from the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary Resort.

Chef Mickey's
Since Chef Mickey’s restaurant isn't located inside a park, you do not need to have a park ticket to dine here. This makes it a great dining option if you are arriving mid day from the airport or departing home early and still want to enjoy Disney atmosphere.
Chef Mickey's
Chef Mickey's is a very popular restaurant and it is hard to get a reservation unless you plan in advance. Even if you are not exactly sure about your park schedule or FastPass choices, I would still recommend booking Chef Mickey's 180 days in advance to avoid disappointment.
Chef Mickey's
You might have to wait for your table after you check in for your dining reservation, but there are lots of crayons and drawing papers for kids to entertain themselves while waiting and often there is also a professional photographer who can take your pictures with fun props.

If you want to maximize on buffet, I recommend making your breakfast reservation for around 10:45am - 11am. Chef Mickey’s switches breakfast buffet to lunch buffet around 11:30am and that way you can enjoy lunch items as well.

Disney characters would be happy to sign your child's autograph book. Purchasing an autograph book ahead of time from Amazon or eBay will save you lots of money as everything on Disney property is very expensive. Over the years I learned that a much better idea is to purchase a journal and encourage your child to write a short story about their experience next to each character's signature. Younger kids can be encouraged to draw pictures or just write few words describing what they enjoyed the most. This way your child not just "collecting signatures" but also learning to express themselves through writing and putting their thoughts and ideas on paper.
