The town of Tetouan means “the eyes” in the Berber language. It is located near the northern end of the nation of Morocco, and its medina (old town) is on the World Heritage List of UNESCO. The look is very traditional, and in the old city, at least, a major activity is selling merchandise to tourists. To us the persistence of the merchandising became tiresome and a reason not to go back. Still the town is worth a short visit at least for those with a little patience and the willpower to say no.
