I have never seen such strange foods for sale as I have seen in Bangkok. Here you can find scorpions, cockroaches and pig tails for sale. One food that I was not expecting to see was crocodile. Right on the side of the street was a vendor roasting a whole crocodile and selling pieces of it. Generally, there is not very good sanitation compared to Western standards. There is meat left out in the very hot sun so be careful what you eat and where you buy your food from. Sticking to restaurants made for tourists is the easiest way to avoid food born illness but these places may not be the most authentic.
