Right now is an amazing time to visit the Anza-Borrego State Park. The heavy rains in Southern California over the past few months have contributed to an awesome springtime bloom. I drove out on a Sunday with a few friends and it was very crowded, so I'd recommend leaving really early or going on a weekday. Driving out through Lake Cuyamaca past Julian is a great way to drive out, there is less traffic. When we got there, we visited the Visitors Center and did a short hike up to the top of a mountain. After we stopped at the Big Horn Bar and Grill for a beer. The bathroom line was crowded but the patio was lovely. If you need to use the restroom I recommend the Visitor's Center instead. Also check out the large sculpture garden on the way in!
