Spring Break in Dublin

Dublin, Dublin, Ireland
2 Kudos
Visiting Dublin has always been on my bucket list. I finally had the opportunity to explore this beautiful and historical capital this spring break with one of my oldest friends. We stayed in Islandbridge right on the River Liffey and invested in Dublin Passes, cards that are accepted at various tourist attractions allowing you free entry, some discounts, and faster entry to sites. Our passes were valid for three of our seven day stay and I feel that they were very valuable to us on our trip. For one, they cut out the need to carry around euros or attempt to use our credit cards, which were only accepted at some locations in the city (this was an unexpected obstacle on our trip). The card also exposed us to many attractions I think we would not have known about or bothered to see. For those three consecutive days, my friend and I visited over ten attractions around the city. Some were educational, like Dublinia and the Chester Beatty Library. Others were historical and spiritual and included Christchurch Cathedral and St. Patrick's Cathedral. We were allowed quicker entry into Jameson Distillery, the Kilmainham Gaol, and Malahide Castle. Our passes gave us free entry into the popular Guinness Storehouse (ten times more delicious in Ireland). Overall our three days using the pass were busy and exhausting as we tried to squeeze in every site we could, but the experiences learning about Dublin's rich history and culture are invaluable to me. I highly recommend utilizing this resource if you are ever to visit Dublin! The other days of our trip were spent visiting friends that attend Trinity College and exploring the city and nightlife. I especially enjoyed exploring Trinity and walking around Temple Bar where one can find endless souvenirs to bring home to loved ones. Dublin is a beautiful place and no matter what your interests are, you are sure to find them in this bustling and exciting place!
