Spider Rocks Overlook provides the most recognizable vista of the Canyon de Chelly. It is the easternmost viewpoint on the South Rim of the canyon. The paved trail from the parking area to the vista point is ~0.2 miles one way and you get to see the twin towers of sandstone and the confluence of the Bat and the Mountain Canyons from different angles. The viewpoint is ~7000 feet above the sea level and some 1500 feet higher than the town of Chinle. The surrounding vegetation is quite different from the desert fauna you will see in other areas and there were a lot of pine and juniper trees providing a nice cover for the trails.
