There are many options for viewing marine life, and the like, on the island of Hawaii. Otherwise known as the Big Island, it gets a bad rap for supposedly not having a lot of good beaches, but there are a few. Kapoho tidal pools at the end of Kapoho-Kalapana Road on the southeast tip of the big island is a good place to view fish. Time the tides so your gear doesn't get wet back on the land, and wear water shoes, its a mush. You have to walk out about 300 feet over sharp rock to get to the good snorkel spots.
