One of the best excursions while in Skagway is the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad scenic tour. This railroad was built in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush. The railroad route takes you through the mountains as you climb nearly 3,000 feet in elevation in just 20 miles. We enjoyed the beautiful views of the mountainside. While riding the train you get a narration of the history of the railroad and the area. The views and history are amazing. If your a train fan this is a must do. Once we docked it is just a 10 minute walk to board.
