Single person table restaurant

Meguro City, Tokyo, Japan
18 Kudos
Japan definitely has its own unique culture which sometimes look quite interesting and a bit odd to people who are not familiar with Japanese culture. Over the years, I have traveled to Japan numerous times, and one of the clear things that I noticed was its increasing trend of single person table restaurant. It is not a new type of restaurant, but restaurants change their table settings to accommodate increasing numbers of single person customer (ohitori sama). Some of the restaurants (especially near metro station) are dedicated to be single person customer serving only as they have this divided table. It was a bit odd to see at first, but I already get used to see this and sometimes I travel for business solo and love to eat in this kind of place.
