St Maarten and Saint Martin were an island treat. There's a Dutch side and a French side and both influences were found on each respective side of the island. St Maarten's claim to fame is Maho Beach, the popular beach that is next door to the runway at Princess Juliana airport. You can take a taxi there and either set up on the beach and watch the planes come down low over your head for landing or hang out at the next door Sunset Bar and Grill. I prefer the latter for the music, great food and drinks, the TV screen that lets you know which planes are arriving, and a better view for photo opps.

The airport next to the beach, where the planes take off from and land on.
